We’re sure it hasn’t escaped your notice that the festive season is usually a little fraught! There's so much to organise, and often that comes with big expenses. With this in mind, the team at Webbers have some fun 'do it yourself' Christmas ideas that you can try if you're on a budget, so that you can ensure your home looks festive - without breaking the bank.

1. Decorate Your Staircase

If you’ve ever looked at the price of store bought staircase garlands, you’ll know just how costly they can be. However, you can make your own for a fraction of the price. Buy a plain, extra-long garland, some cheap baubles and some red ribbon and you’re on your way to a beautiful DIY hallway! Just hang the plain garland along your staircase, then attach the ribbon in bows at the points where the garland fixes to your bannisters. Secure a bauble in the middle of each bow, and you’ll have a chic but affordable decoration.

2. A DIY Bauble Wreath

Door wreaths are a great way to add kerb appeal to your home and make a bold statement, but they’re also a costly way to achieve this goal. You can make your own instead with a Styrofoam wreath, some ribbon, some florist pins, and some cheap baubles. Just wrap the ribbon around the Styrofoam shape and pin the baubles in place to create an eye-catching feature and make your home stand out.

3. Pinecone Christmas Ornaments

There’s nothing that says “Christmas” quite like pinecones and, best of all, they’re completely free thanks to nature! Go out and collect as many as you can from your local wood, then spray them with some snowy white paint, sprinkle glitter over them before the paint dries, and then use them to create stunning festive displays. You can glue some string or cord onto the base so that they can be attached to garlands or your Christmas tree, or you can pile them into a bowl to create a festive centrepiece.

4. A Christmas Present Display

Make a stunning display underneath your Christmas tree, on your mantlepiece, or in an empty corner of any room by using wrapped presents as a pretty festive arrangement. Wrapping up empty cardboard boxes (perhaps from the actual Christmas presents that you’ve ordered) is a great way to recycle and reuse too. Just grab some cheap wrapping paper in different colours and get to work. With colourfully-wrapped boxes of different shapes and sizes, you can make your home look seasonal at minimal expense.
