As part of our centenary celebrations, Webbers Barnstaple brought festive cheer to the heart of the community on 23rd December. This special event featured one of our team members dressed as the Elf on the Shelf, delighting children and families while raising funds for Young Lives vs Cancer, a charity that provides crucial support to young people and their families facing the challenges of cancer.
The day was made possible with the help of North Devon Events, who generously supported us by providing the Elf costume. Their contribution ensured the event had the festive sparkle it needed to capture everyone’s attention.
Adding to the magic was Young Rupert, a spirited young helper who stood outside our Barnstaple office, collecting donations, giving out stickers and rallying support from passers-by. Rupert’s enthusiasm was infectious, making him an invaluable part of the day’s success. Together, the Elf, Rupert and the rest of Barnstaple Office engaged with local families and spread joy, turning the event into a heart-warming highlight of the festive season.
The team didn’t stop there. After starting at the office, the Elf took to Barnstaple High Street, where they brought smiles to shoppers and visitors alike. The sight of the Elf on the Shelf walking through town captured the imagination of children and adults, and the high spirits inspired an outpouring of generosity. By the end of the day, the team had raised over £250, a significant contribution to the vital work of Young Lives vs Cancer.
“This year marks 100 years of Webbers, and giving back to our community has been at the forefront of our centenary celebrations,” said Karlie Baker Kidwell, Marketing Manager for Webbers. “Dressing up as the Elf on the Shelf was a fun way to spread festive cheer, and we were overwhelmed by the support and generosity of local people. We are especially grateful to Rupert, who brought so much energy and joy to the day, and to North Devon Events for their kind support in providing the Elf costume.”
The Elf on the Shelf fundraiser is a shining example of how small acts of kindness can make a big difference. The money raised will go directly towards supporting young people and their families through some of the toughest times imaginable.
Webbers Barnstaple would like to thank everyone who donated, participated, or simply stopped by to share in the festive fun. Here’s to more opportunities to support our community as we continue to celebrate 100 years of Webbers.
